This hand amulet, the hamsa, representing the portective hand of God, is common among Sephardic Jews in Israel and has become prevalent among Western Jews as well. The hamsa design in this bookend will be a collector's item and a great gift for hamsa collectors. The stained glass in the hamsa has been hand cut, wrapped in metal and soldered together to form the shape. The glass base is created and then the hamsa panel is soldered in place.
